Dear May…
Does the work get harder in 11th grade?
I am not one to lie, so the short answer is yes. While the work does get harder in 11th grade, it is the same way it gets harder every year. As long as you maintain a good balance in school and don’t let yourself fall behind, you should be all set.
Hello! I was wondering about what places I should look for summer jobs, a website? Should I talk to someone? If you know help me out!
I have no idea if there is a website you can go to, but I do have a couple of recommendations. Some good summer jobs are ice cream places, lifeguarding, restaurants, and camp counselors. A lot of places that get busier in the summer are usually the places that are looking for people. When I was looking for a new job, I called different places and asked if they were hiring. Make sure you tell them your availability before anything, and if you do need advice, go talk to your guidance counselor.
I’m a freshman taking Physics as opposed to Earth Science. I’m not taking the Physics regents this year, but I don’t know what other science class I would need to take in order to get the Advanced Regents Diploma. – A confused freshman
From what I know, you only need two science classes for your Advanced Regents Diploma. If you already have your living environment class done, then you should be all set. If not, then I would suggest you take bio or chem. To get a more detailed answer with exactly what you should do, you should go talk to your guidance counselor. Good luck!
I was thinking about joining BOCES. Do you know anything about it?
Yes! So I actually do go to Boces, and I went for both my junior and senior years. I absolutely loved it. Before you decide to do anything, it is important to look into all of the classes and make sure that whatever class you choose to take is something that you are interested in. If you don’t pick that, then you will hate it. It is also important that you don’t let the fact that you don’t know anyone stop you. I have met some of my closest friends in my Biology class, and I went into my class not knowing anyone. BOCES gave me a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who knows they want to get a specific thing.
What are some fun things to do in the summer?
My all-time favorite thing to do in the summer is swim. I swim absolutely anywhere that I can, even if I am technically not supposed to. Besides swimming, try to be outside as much as you can: go on hikes, eat ice cream, go karting, go to the arcade, go shopping, and hang out with friends. One thing that I wish I took advantage of more was the fact that my friends are around. Even if you guys are just together doing nothing, it’s nice to have company.
