Taking place once a year, the NJROTC Annual Inspection offers parents and the community an opportunity to observe some of what the NJROTC program represents and aspires towards. The cadets and officers get a chance to show everyone what they have worked so hard to do since coming in at the beginning of the school year. This time is an opportunity to witness a part of what has made the unit so successful. Under the watchful eye of Commander Earl Waidelich, the Brewster NJROTC program looks forward to this event every year.

Annual Inspection is a major milestone in each year’s NJROTC calendar. For the 2017 Inspection, the inspecting officer was CDR Jimmie Mille, USN/Ret, NJROTC Area Four Commander, a 27-year veteran of the US Navy.

There are two phases to AI, with the first being the actual inspection stage which occurs in private. During this closed-door time, the inspector looks at battalion formation and does a complete platoon inspection. The second, more public phase is the ceremonial phase, where NJROTC members present in battalion formation, present the colors, complete a demonstration drill, and end with a pass in review.

Clearly working tremendously hard, the program has earned the honors of “Distinguished Unit” 14 times in the past 16 years, with “Unit Achievement” three times, the NJROTC programming is looking forward to a strong year with such a wonderful group of dedicated individuals.
