The Career Skills class never stops! Just when you think they can’t do any more than they already are (see our front page article), along comes a new and innovative idea that gets everyone excited. Not only are they doing great things with the bowling team, they have also opened two new businesses that you can get in on, one that makes for a great present under the tree. Read and find out!
Memory Pillow Fundraiser
The Career Skills Program is running a new fundraiser to raise money for Unified Sports and The Bear Essential’s Food Pantry. The students have accepted orders and are busy repurposing favorite t-shirts and sweatshirts into memory pillows. It is exciting to put the sewing skills they have practiced in PAES Lab into action for this new project! To date the students have completed 40 shirts and have received a total of 60 orders.
The BHS Unified Bowling Team
Special thanks to Mr. Wood and the BHS Varsity Club for their very generous donation! The Varsity Club has purchased bowling balls for the new members of the Unified Bowling Team. The balls are fitted and designed specifically for each athlete. Having properly fitted bowling balls has a big impact on their game! They are looking forward to kicking off their season in January.
The Career Skills Team is happy to announce the official opening of their newest business. “Tear Bears” offers shredding services for the BCSD community. Interns are on hand to pick up and shred documents! They have been very busy working for the Special Education Department and the Athletic Department. Special thanks to Mrs. Carpanzano for purchasing the Shredding Machine.
