A Valentine’s Day Survival Guide for the Criminally Unloved
February 28, 2020
I know how difficult and annoying it can be to be single on Valentine’s Day…having to watch couples being all lovey-dovey and not being able to escape the pink and red decorations everywhere. We’ve all been there, and it’s not fun. But hopefully, you can count on your friends and your family to make your next Valentine’s Day just a little better.
Just in case, here are a few things you and your single friends can do to survive the next romantic holiday:
1) Tune up some top hits – there are some great songs to turn on and jam out to when you’re going solo. You can listen to:
“Shut Up and Dance” – Walk the Moon
“Best Day of my Life” – American Authors
“Just Dance” – Lady Gaga
“I Gotta Feeling” – Black Eyed Peas
2) Try not to listen to songs that will give you the blues – even though you’re single on Valentine’s Day, there are ways to celebrate and have fun. Even though these are all amazing songs, don’t bring yourself down by listening to any of them…unless you need a good cry:
“I Wanna Dance with Somebody” – Whitney Houston
“Someone Like You” – Adele
“Someone You Loved” – Lewis Capaldi
“i love you” – Billie Eilish
3) Watch a funny movie – there’s always a way to have fun with your family and your friends. One of those ways is to watch a funny movie! Watching a good comedy can make you laugh the whole night long. Here are some good movies to watch:
Clueless
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Step Brothers
Forrest Gump
4) Have some of your favorite snacks – in order to really enjoy those funny movies, you need a good snack to eat to add to the experience. Try these snacks to add to a fun time:
Homemade Popcorn – It’s as easy as putting popcorn in a pot with some oil, shaking it up while it pops, and mixing it up with some melted butter!
Fruit Smoothie – If you want to be a little healthy, get some of your favorite fruit, cut it up, put it in the blender with some ice and a juice of your choice, and blend!
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries – This is much easier than you think. Get some big beautiful strawberries and dip them in melted chocolate!
5) Call up your friends and have a fun night in or out – just because you don’t have a significant other, doesn’t mean you’re alone. Text your friends to make plans to go out and have fun! There are plenty of ways to have fun if you want to forget it’s Valentine’s Day and simply have some fun with your friends. Here ares some fun things to do:
Go ice skating – if there are no frozen ponds, find an indoor rink!
Go see a movie – find one you know you are going to like, get some of your favorite snacks, and enjoy the show.
Go to the mall – it’s always fun to go shopping with your friends!
Arrange for a fun night in – call up your besties, buy everyone’s favorite snacks, play some of your favorite games and laugh the night away!
